Jurgen Naggert is a Professor at the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering (University of Maine). His research focuses on genetic mechanisms underlying metabolic syndrome, particularly Alström syndrome - a rare condition combining obesity, retinal degeneration, diabetes, cardiomyopathy, and kidney disease. His work explores gene-environment interactions in metabolic disorders and genetic modifiers of retinal disease.
