Junko Ueno is an Assistant Professor of Japanese in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Union College. Her research focuses on second language acquisition, Japanese linguistics, and educational psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in Language Education from Indiana University, with minors in East Asian Languages and Cultures. Her work emphasizes technology integration in language teaching, learner motivation, and sociolinguistic aspects of Japanese.
Education: B.A. in English Literature from Kyushu University (1994), M.A. in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University (1995), and Ph.D. in Language Education from Indiana University (2001).

- Gender differences in Japanese conversation
- Cross-cultural communication
- Error correction strategies in language teaching
