Dr. Jung-Chin Chang is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Biomolecular Health Sciences, specializing in Cell Biology, Metabolism & Cancer. His research bridges basic and translational studies in mitochondrial bioenergetics, cellular metabolism, apoptosis signaling, and experimental hepatology, with applications in cancer and cholestatic liver diseases.
- MD (2010): National Taiwan University
- PhD (2018): Tytgat Institute for Liver and Intestinal Research, Amsterdam UMC
Research focuses on metabolic reprogramming in liver cancers and cholestatic diseases, particularly through advanced organoid technology and MASH-in-a-dish models to study cell-cell interactions and identify therapeutic targets. His work explores non-canonical roles of metabolic enzymes and metabolite-driven crosstalk in tumor microenvironments.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in soluble adenylyl cyclase function, bile acid metabolism, and redox state regulation. Collaborations span multiple cancer types and inflammatory disease models.
