معرفی
Dr. June Young Park is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), affiliated with the College of Engineering. She leads the Humanized Built Environment (HBE) Lab, focusing on interdisciplinary research in human-centric building design, occupant behavior, and equity in infrastructure. Her work integrates data science, machine learning, and environmental engineering to address challenges in sustainable buildings and urban systems.
Education:
- PhD in Civil Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin (2020)
- MS in Building Performance and Diagnostics, Carnegie Mellon University (2016)
- BS in Architectural Engineering, Hanyang University (2014) and Illinois Institute of Technology (2014)
Research Interests:
Dr. Park's research emphasizes human-centric approaches to built environments, including occupant behavior analysis, smart building technologies, and equity in infrastructure design. She explores how data-driven methodologies can enhance energy efficiency, thermal resilience, and accessibility, particularly for underrepresented communities. Her lab actively investigates topics like wheelchair user comfort, airport accessibility, and community-driven building retrofit programs.
Recent Article Trends:
Her publications focus on occupant-centric controls, social media-driven equity analysis, and machine learning applications in civil engineering. Recent work includes studies on disability inequity in transportation, data-driven building benchmarking, and frameworks for citizen involvement in retrofit projects.
Awards:
- Emerging Contributor Award (IBPSA-USA, 2024)
- Annual Service Award (ASCE, 2022)
- UN PKO Medal (2011)
Advising & Grants:
Dr. Park advises over 20 graduate and undergraduate researchers, focusing on projects like airport accessibility, thermal resilience, and smart building education. She has secured grants from NSF, the Texas Department of Transportation, and Amazon, totaling over $2M. Current initiatives include NSF CyberTraining bootcamps and citizen science programs for building literacy.
Labs & Teams:
The HBE Lab collaborates with international organizations like IEA Annex 95 and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The lab's mission is to create equitable, sustainable, and humanized built environments through participatory research and technology integration.
