JunHui Yang serves as a Senior Lecturer within the School of Psychology and Humanities, specifically affiliated with the BSL & Deaf Studies Team. Her teaching portfolio includes core courses in Sign Linguistics, Deaf People in Society, Sign and Society, and British Sign Language, alongside supervision of postgraduate research projects focused on sign languages and international Deaf cultural studies.
Her research expertise centers on the sociocultural dimensions of Deaf communities, with particular emphasis on Sign Linguistics, Deaf Studies, and the intersection of sign languages with societal structures. This work has established her international reputation through extensive conference presentations and collaborative projects across the UK and abroad, reflecting deep engagement with both theoretical and community-oriented aspects of Deaf culture.
Dr Yang has secured significant funding for multiple Erasmus+ initiatives and organized student exchange programs, demonstrating sustained success in international academic collaboration. As an active member of the BSL & Deaf Studies Team, she drives research that bridges linguistic analysis with real-world applications in Deaf education and cultural advocacy.
