Jun Mizukawa is a Lecturer in Anthropology and Religion at Lake Forest College (since 2018) and previously taught at DePaul University (2014–2016). He holds a PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University, an MA in Anthropology from Columbia, and a BA in Japanese Studies from Sophia University. His research focuses on post-3.11 Japan’s environmentalism and political activism, media materiality theory, and embodiment studies through Japanese cultural practices like calligraphy and Butoh dance.

His work explores intersections between technology, culture, and disaster recovery. Recent publications include analyses of post-disaster reconstruction and cellphone novel temporality.
