Jun Huang is an Associate Professor of Molecular Engineering and Chair of the Admissions Committee at the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. His research focuses on T cell immunology, mRNA nanotechnology, and immunotherapy, with a particular emphasis on developing diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies for cancer and infectious diseases. Huang holds a PhD in bioengineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and completed postdoctoral research in immunology at Stanford University.
His educational background includes a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech, followed by doctoral work in Bioengineering. He joined the University of Chicago faculty in 2015. Key achievements include pioneering work in T-cell receptor dynamics, CAR T-cell therapy, and nanotechnology-based diagnostics, supported by awards such as the NIH New Innovator Award and NSF Career Award.
Huang's lab develops cutting-edge technologies for single-molecule imaging, T-cell receptor engineering, and targeted drug delivery. Notable projects include SARS-CoV-2 detection systems and therapies leveraging the Warburg effect in cancer cells. His research bridges molecular engineering, immunology, and nanotechnology to address unmet clinical needs in oncology and infectious diseases.
Scientific awards include recognition from the American Cancer Society, NIH, and Lynn Sage Foundation. He advises on admissions for the Pritzker School and collaborates widely in academia and industry.
