Dr. Jun Gu is a Professor and Program Director for the Cytogenetic Technology Program at the School of Health Professions, part of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. With dual M.D. and Ph.D. qualifications and a clinical cytogenetics certification from ASCP, he combines clinical expertise with academic leadership.
- Bachelor's in Medicine, Zhejiang University (1989)
- Master's in Environmental Science (Genetic Toxicology), University of Texas Health Science Center (1995)
- Ph.D. in Healthcare Management, Trident University (2009)
His research focuses on cytogenetics, genomic instability, and genetic toxicology, with particular emphasis on:
- Chromosomal abnormalities in cancer development
- Technical innovations in FISH and CGH analysis
- Clinical laboratory standardization
- Medical education curriculum development
His recent publications highlight trends in pediatric brain tumor genetics, radiation-induced genomic instability, and diagnostic cytogenetic methodologies. As an educator, Dr. Gu has taught over 15 courses to clinical laboratory students and serves on institutional education committees.
