Dr. Julius Middleton Wilder is a dual-appointed Associate Professor in Medicine (Gastroenterology) and Sociology at Duke University, with membership in the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He holds a MD from Duke University School of Medicine (2008) and a PhD in Sociology (2007). His research focuses on health disparities in liver disease, telemedicine equity, social determinants of health, and healthcare access barriers.
Key research areas include racial disparities in liver transplantation, hepatitis management, and leveraging technology to address inequities in specialty care access. He has led major grants including the Social Determinants of Disparities in IBD (Janssen, 2023–2028) and telehealth equity studies.
