Dr. Julio Crego serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), Tilburg University, holding this position since September 2017. His institutional affiliations include Tilburg Law and Economic Center (TILEC) and Tilburg Sustainability Center, with office located in the Koopmans Building (Room K 633).
His research spans market microstructure, asset pricing, and econometrics with significant extensions into health economics. Key interests include information asymmetry dynamics, scheduled news impact on financial markets, health shock consequences, and elderly population dynamics. His methodological approach combines advanced panel data modeling with causal inference techniques applied to large-scale datasets including medical specialist records and household surveys.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trend toward interdisciplinary research bridging finance and health economics, particularly examining how health shocks affect labor markets and household finances. His work demonstrates consistent application of rigorous econometric techniques to both traditional financial datasets and novel health/medical records.
Dr. Crego currently supervises PhD candidates Daniel Karpati (2023) and Artur Zaynullin (TBD), focusing on market microstructure and health economics topics. His research has received institutional support through CentER, Center for Economic Research.
His laboratory work centers on quantitative analysis of financial markets and health economics, utilizing panel datasets from sources including the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA), and Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).
