Juliet Guzzetta is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University with joint appointments in the Department of English and Department of Romance and Classical Studies within the College of Arts and Letters. Her research focuses on 20th/21st-century Italian culture, performance studies, gender studies, and cinema. She is the author of *The Theater of Narration* (2021), honored with an MLA Scaglione Award honorable mention, and co-editor of *Italian Feminism: A Transnational Praxis*. She currently leads the Women’s Studies Caucus for the American Association for Italian Studies (2021–2025).
Education: PhD in English from the University of Michigan. Prior to academia, she co-authored and performed in NYC and Edinburgh Fringe Festival plays, trained at the Moscow Art Theater and British American Drama Academy. Current projects include *Acting Class: Lessons from Franca Rame* and *Eternally Present* (non-fiction on grief).
Teaching includes courses like *Performing Solo Theory*, *Italian Cinema and Critical Race Theory*, and *Gender in the Archives: Documentary Theatre*. Awards include the Hopwood Award (for *Eternally Present*) and a Fulbright grant to Italy. She has held grants from Harvard’s Mellon School and MSU internal programs. Research explores intersections of theater, gender, and political activism in Italy.
Recent work centers on Giuliana Musso’s plays and the *Divina Project* feminist collective. Her 2024 U.S. premiere of Musso’s *Dentro* addresses sexual violence narratives. Collaborations include co-editing volumes on Italian feminist praxis and transnational cultural studies.
