Julienne C. Stroeve

Professor Julienne Stroeve serves as Professor of Polar Observation & Modelling at University College London (UCL), affiliated with the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) and Polar Research group. Her work centers on Arctic climate systems, particularly rapid environmental changes and their global implications.

Education:

Stroeve's research spans atmosphere-sea ice interactions, Arctic sea ice dynamics, remote sensing via satellite altimetry for snow/ice measurement, climate change attribution, and synoptic climatology. She investigates sea ice predictability, precipitation shifts toward rain in the Arctic, and cascading impacts on marine ecosystems, permafrost, and Indigenous communities. Her fieldwork spans Greenland, Canada, the Arctic Ocean, and U.S. snow regions.
