Julien Sibileau

Julien Sibileau is a Lecturer at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO), specializing in Arabic linguistics within the Arabic Studies Department. His research focuses on the history of Arabic grammar, language policies in the Arab world, and Kuwaiti dialect/sung poetry through the CERMOM research team.

Research profile encompasses medieval Arabic linguistic theories (8th-10th centuries), hyperonymic classifications, and contemporary Kuwaiti cultural expression through music and dialectal studies. His scholarship engages with both historical texts (e.g., Ibn Jinni's Ḫaṣāʾiṣ) and modern sociolinguistic phenomena.

Recent publications analyze grammatical reasoning (maʿnā concept), poetic metrical practices, and lexical evolution in Arabic. He teaches courses on Arabic linguistic thought at L2/M1 levels and coordinates the Arabic Aggregation preparation program in Paris.
