Julie Saner

Julie Saner is a Lecturer of Communication at California State University San Marcos in the Department of Communication & Media Studies. She teaches Public Speaking and Communications courses at both the main campus and at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar.

Her educational background includes:

• M.A. in Communication from San Diego State University
• B.A. in Communication Studies from Eastern University, St. Davids, PA

Ms. Saner specializes in interpersonal and intergenerational communication, women's and gender studies, conflict resolution, and quantitative research methods. Her research focuses on communication patterns within relationships, particularly examining romantic flirting behavior between established couples, for which she received recognition from the National Communication Association.

She has been honored with:

• Top Paper Award from National Communication Association (NCA)
• 2014-2015 GEO G.I.F.T. (Great Ideas for Teaching) award

Ms. Saner previously taught at San Diego State University before joining CSUSM. She emphasizes high levels of student engagement in her classroom and brings practical experience from teaching in both traditional academic settings and military contexts at MCAS Miramar.
