Julie Péron

Julie Péron is an Associate Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Geneva. She serves as director of the Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology Laboratory (CENLab) and the Master of Advanced Studies in neuropsychology at the University of Geneva. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, with strong affiliations to the Neuropsychology Unit of the Neurology Department at University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG) and two interfaculty centers: the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences and the Swiss Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Gerontology and Vulnerability.

Dr. Péron's research focuses on the neuropsychology of emotions and habit formation, with particular emphasis on moving beyond cortico-centric bias in clinical neuropsychology. Her work integrates large-scale brain networks in both theoretical and practical applications. She has developed significant expertise in Parkinson's disease, cerebellar stroke, and the neuropsychological effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection, leading the Geneva COVID-COG cohort study.

Her publication record reveals a strong focus on the interactions between the basal ganglia and cerebellum in emotional processing, with recent research examining the long-term neuropsychological effects of COVID-19. Her work demonstrates how motor symptom asymmetry in Parkinson's disease relates to cognitive and emotional outcomes, and how inflammatory markers predict cognitive impairment following SARS-CoV-2 infection.
