Julie MÉTAIS

Julie MÉTAIS serves as a Lecturer and teacher-researcher at the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Solidarity, Societies, Territories (LISST) within the University of Toulouse-Jean Jaurès. Her work spans anthropology, ethnology, and prehistory with specialized focus on political anthropology in the Americas, particularly examining territory, sovereignty, and social conflict.

Her research investigates contestation processes through schools and local festivals in Mexico and Brazil, analyzing social construction of otherness, political-educational utopias, and violence manifestations. Recently, she pioneered sound-based methodologies exploring listening and recording resources to document conflict and dissenting voices, reflecting an innovative interdisciplinary approach merging ethnography with sonic studies.
