Julie Mackenhauer is a Clinical Associate Professor at Aalborg University and a Medical Specialist in Public Health at Aalborg University Hospital. She holds a PhD from Aalborg University (2022) and a cand.med. from Aarhus University (2012). Her research focuses on healthcare access equity, emergency care quality, and addressing disparities in care for patients with mental health conditions and dual diagnoses.
Key affiliations include the Danish Center for Health Services Research and the Department of Social Medicine. She has led projects investigating emergency care quality for patients with mental illnesses and substance use disorders, with recent work exploring pandemic impacts on healthcare systems and disparities.
Her activities include memberships in the Danish Health Authority (2024–present), Behandlingsrådet (2023–2025), and peer review for journals like Scandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine.
