Julie Ledford

Julie Ledford is Associate Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Arizona. She co-directs the Clinical Translational Sciences Graduate Program and is affiliated with the Asthma and Airway Disease Research Center and BIO5 Institute. Her research investigates innate immunity dysfunction in asthma and respiratory infections.

Her research focuses on the roles of surfactant proteins and club cell secretory protein in lung defense mechanisms, with particular emphasis on asthma pathogenesis. Recent work explores biomarker discovery, hormonal influences on lung function, and viral exacerbations of respiratory diseases.

Publications demonstrate consistent focus on translational approaches combining molecular techniques, animal models, and clinical studies. Recent articles highlight therapeutic targeting of pulmonary fibrosis mechanisms, viral inhibition strategies, and developmental origins of lung disease.
