Julie Laloy is a researcher at the University of Namur, affiliated with the Namur Thrombosis and Hemostasis Center, Namur Nanosafety Center, and NAmur MEdicine & Drug Innovation Center (NAMEDIC). She holds a PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and has been actively involved in numerous national and international research projects since 2006.
Her research focuses on the safety and biomedical applications of nanomaterials. Key areas include nanotoxicology, hemocompatibility, in vitro and in vivo models for toxicity assessment, and nanoparticle-based drug delivery. She has developed innovative models for evaluating the impact of nanoparticles on biological systems, particularly in cardiovascular and gastrointestinal contexts.
The most recent publications highlight a strong trend in nanomedicine and toxicological evaluation, with studies on copper oxide nanopowders, squalene-adenosine nanoparticles for cardiac protection, and microplastic toxicity in inflammatory bowel disease. These works reflect interdisciplinary efforts combining materials science, pharmacology, and toxicology.
