Dr. Julie Gordon is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Health Sciences, affiliated with the WHO Collaborating Centre for Strengthening Rehabilitation Capacity in Health Systems. She co-leads the OCEAN project and holds roles in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Her research focuses on clinical terminology systems (e.g., ICPC-2 PLUS), primary care activity analysis, and health policy related to disability inclusion and chronic disease management. Dr. Gordon is a member of the Wonca International Classification Committee (WICC) and the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA).
Her research interests include the application of clinical classifications in healthcare and research, general practice dynamics, and improving primary care systems. Notably, she has contributed to over 50 publications analyzing Australian general practice trends, including chronic disease management, imaging practices, and socioeconomic disparities in healthcare access.
Dr. Gordon's recent work emphasizes disability-inclusive health policy and the development of self-report disability tools for general practice. She has also explored Medicare billing practices and non-billable time in general practice. Her projects often involve large-scale data analysis using the Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) dataset.
She has held leadership roles in WICC governance and executive committees since 2007, reflecting her commitment to international health informatics standards. Her work bridges clinical practice, health policy, and informatics to improve healthcare systems' responsiveness to population needs.
