Julie E. Bauman

Julie E. Bauman, MD, MPH is the Dr. Cyrus Katzen Family Director of the GW Cancer Center, Associate Dean of Cancer at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Professor of Medicine in Cancer & Blood Disorders. Her academic leadership roles and research focus on cancer therapeutics, prevention, and clinical trial innovation.

• Medical Oncology Fellowship at University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Her research spans head and neck cancer, green chemoprevention (using plant-based agents for cancer prevention), precision medicine, and immunotherapy. She leads national clinical trials and NIH-funded team science projects.

Scientific awards include:

• NIH National Cancer Institute Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award
• 2020 ELAM fellowship for women in academic medicine

She co-chairs the NCI Cancer Prevention Steering Committee and the Head and Neck Steering Committee’s PULA Task Force, with expertise in clinical trial design at the intersection of oncology and public health.
