Julie A. Adams is a Professor of Computer Science at Oregon State University's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with a courtesy appointment in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. She serves as the CoRIS Associate Director for Research in the Collaborative Robotics and Intelligent Systems Institute. Her research focuses on human-machine teaming, unmanned systems, and swarm robotics, with over 25 years of experience in the field.

Research Interests: Human interaction with unmanned systems, swarm robotics, drone technology, and human-AI collaboration. Her work has been highlighted in National Geographic, Scientific American Podcast, and BBC Online. She leads the Human-Machine Teaming Laboratory and is the principal investigator for the FAA Center of Excellence (ASSURE).
Awards: 2007 NSF CAREER Award, DARPA Computer Science Study Panel member, contributor to National Academies reports on UUVs and UAV countermeasures.
Grants & Labs: Primary investigator for ASSURE (FAA-funded). Her lab explores adaptive systems for human-robot interaction, including swarm supervision and unmanned aerial system safety. Past industry roles include Honeywell and Eastman Kodak.
