Julianne Grose

Julianne Grose is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Brigham Young University, actively involved in the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program since 2014.

Her research focuses on:

• Bacteriophage discovery and characterization
• Microbial genomics and evolutionary analysis
• Bioinformatics of phage-host interactions
• Molecular mechanisms of phage infection

Dr. Grose has mentored over 339 undergraduate students across 13 course sections (2014-2022) in both wet-lab (in situ) and computational (in silico) components of the SEA-PHAGES curriculum, utilizing diverse bacterial hosts including Bacillus megaterium, Mycobacterium smegmatis, and Microbacterium foliorum. She collaborates nationally within the SEA-PHAGES consortium to advance phage-based educational research.
