Juliane Schumacher

Dr. Juliane Schumacher is a researcher affiliated with the Environment & Justice research unit at the Leibniz Center for Modern Orient in Berlin since 2020. Holding a PhD in Economic and Social Geography from the University of Potsdam (2021), she focuses on climate change impacts in West Africa, particularly coastal futures in Senegal involving knowledge systems, climate models, and socio-ecological justice.

Her work examines entanglements of climate predictions, development pathways, and material infrastructures through interdisciplinary approaches. Active in academic networks like the Association of American Geographers (AAG) and Political Ecology Network (POLLEN), she has taught seminars at the University of Potsdam and Humboldt University.
