Juliane Müller is a Researcher in Islamic History and Culture at the University of Tübingen. She previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Zurich's Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies and worked with the University of Lisbon's ERC-funded RUTTER project. Her research focuses on Arabic manuscripts, alchemical texts, and cultural transmission across Islamicate and Afro-Brazilian contexts. She specializes in critical editions, historical linguistics, and the interplay between science and mysticism in medieval Islamicate traditions.

Her research spans three key domains: (1) Arabic Manuscript Studies through critical editions of alchemical and medical texts, (2) Transoceanic Islamicate Networks examining Afro-Brazilian manuscripts and Portuguese colonial contexts, and (3) History of Science focusing on planetary symbolism and technical terminology in Islamic alchemy.
Recent publications analyze alchemical symbols in 'Mirror of Wonders,' Ibn Arfaʿ Raʾs's works, and Afro-Islamic manuscripts in Brazil. Her output reflects interdisciplinary engagement with codicology, philology, and cultural history.
