Dr. Juliana Morbec is Lecturer in Physics at Keele University's School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, where she leads the Morbec Research Group in computational materials science. She employs first-principles quantum mechanical methods to investigate materials for technological applications including spintronics, optoelectronics, and energy conversion.
Research focuses on electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of 2D materials, surfaces, and nanostructures. Current projects study substrate-induced strain in transition metal dichalcogenides, organic-inorganic interface engineering, and defect-mediated ferromagnetism in doped semiconductors. Collaborates with experimental groups on materials synthesis and characterization.
Publications demonstrate expertise in density functional theory applications to materials design, with recent focus on heterostructure engineering and surface adsorption phenomena. Articles showcase methodological consistency in computational approaches while expanding into new material systems like organic-TMDC interfaces.
