Julian Reif is an Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at the University of Illinois, holding dual affiliations with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (Department of Economics) and Gies College of Business. His research focuses on the determinants and value of health, including studies on air pollution, healthcare policy, and medical innovation. He also leads the Illinois Workplace Wellness Study and contributes to software tools for data analysis (e.g., Stata modules).
Education: PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and BA from Vanderbilt University. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a Senior Consultant at Bates White.
Research interests span Health Economics, Environmental Economics, and Public Policy. Recent work addresses topics like the long-run effects of air pollution, the impact of medical debt on credit reports, and pandemic mortality modeling.
