Julian Hoyos Alonso

Julian Hoyos Alonso serves as a Professor in the Department of History, Geography and Communication at the University of Burgos' Faculty of Humanities and Communication, specializing in Art History with emphasis on Hispanic artistic traditions.

Education:

• PhD in Art History, University of Valladolid (2019). Dissertation: "Arte y prelados en la catedral de Palencia (1500-1520) entre la tradición y la modernidad" (Art and Prelates in Palencia Cathedral (1500-1520) Between Tradition and Modernity), supervised by Dr. María José Redondo Cantera.

His research investigates Hispanic Art of the Modern and Contemporary Age through:

• Transatlantic artistic exchanges
• Renaissance-Gothic stylistic transitions
• Ecclesiastical patronage systems
• Iberian-European artistic dialogues
• Colonial American art influences
• Monumental cathedral studies

with primary focus on 16th-20th century Iberian artistic production and its global connections.

He actively contributes to the ARHISMO research group (Arte hispánico de la Edad Moderna y Contemporánea y sus relaciones europeas y americanas), examining Hispanic art's evolution within European and American contexts through collaborative scholarly projects.
