Julian Henz

Julian Henz is a Researcher and PhD student at the Sport Informatics and Sports Games Research department within the Institute of Exercise Training and Sport Informatics. He holds dual degrees in Sports Sciences (2013–2021) and Mathematics (2015–2021). His research focuses on route setting in indoor bouldering, decision-making processes in climbing, and consumer preferences in climbing gyms. He concurrently serves as Operations Manager at Get High Routesetting GmbH (since 2022) and Head of Route Setting at Stuntwerk Köln GmbH (since 2024).

Research interests include cognitive psychology in sports, memory retention among climbers, and strategic decision-making under pressure. His work bridges sports science with practical applications in recreational facilities and competitive environments.

Collaborations span international rock climbing research networks, with publications in journals like Journal of Sports Sciences and International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. His studies explore topics such as movement repertoires, time-constrained performance, and boulder design preferences.

Henz advises no formal students but contributes to industry practices through his dual academic-industry role. His work impacts both academic research and commercial climbing operations.
