Julia Sulzer is a Lecturer at the USC School of Architecture, where she teaches courses on social environments and urban design. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). Before joining USC, she served in leading roles at Zurich’s Office of Urban Planning for over seven years, overseeing units like 'Architecture & Urban Space' and 'Urban Space,' initiating projects such as city-wide design guidelines and public space strategies. In 2021, she founded Co-Urbanism, an initiative exploring innovative urban design practices. Her teaching focuses on the intersection of urban form and social dynamics, including equity, sustainability, and the evolving role of cities in global contexts.

Her research interests emphasize socially responsive urban design, public space equity, and adaptive urban processes. She actively engages with contemporary challenges such as pandemic-era urban life, digital technologies’ impact on social environments, and inclusive urban planning strategies. Her work integrates academic rigor with practical initiatives, as seen in projects like the Koreatown zero-waste pop-up installation led by her students.
