Julia Pavón Benito is a Spanish medievalist and Professor of Medieval History at the University of Navarra, affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and the Institute of Culture and Society (ICS). Since 2020, she has served as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. Her research focuses on the history of Early Medieval Navarre, attitudes toward death in the Middle Ages, and female monasticism.
- Education: PhD in History (1996) from the University of Navarra, with a thesis on The Early Medieval Settlement of Navarre, supervised by Dr. Ángel J. Martín Duque.
Research and Publications: She collaborates with the Claustra Project (under the University of Barcelona) to map medieval women's monasteries. Her publications include Silence be in the Claustra. Female monasticism in medieval Navarre (2017) and co-edited works like 1423. The Privilege of the Union (2023). Her work explores the cultural and religious dynamics of medieval societies.
