Prof. Julia Hoydis is Professor of English Literature from the 18th to the 21st Century at the Institute of English Studies, University of Graz. Her research examines Anglophone literary and cultural studies with emphasis on climate narratives, risk representation, and postcolonial literatures.
Research Focus: Primary interests include the history of the English novel, narrative theory, literature-science intersections (particularly risk representation), ecocriticism, posthumanism, and digital narrative forms. She leads the FWF project "Just Futures? Approaching Cultural Climate Models" (2023-2026).
Current Projects: The interdisciplinary project "Just Futures?" investigates how cultural forms (literature, social media, educational materials) mediate between descriptive climate models and normative visions of intergenerational justice. This €206,256 project brings together literary studies, linguistics, and science and technology studies.
Editorial Role: Serves as editor of the open access journal Anglistik: International Journal of English Studies since 2019.
