معرفی
Julia Felippe is a Professor at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where she leads the Equine Clinical Immunology Laboratory and serves as Associate Chair for the Department of Clinical Sciences. Her work spans clinical care, DVM/resident training, and groundbreaking research in equine immunology.
- Education: PhD in Immunology (Cornell, 2002), MS in Veterinary Science (Kansas State, 1997), MedVet (UNESP-Botucatu, 1989)
Research Focus: Dr. Felippe investigates developmental immunology in foals and mechanisms of equine immunodeficiencies, notably Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID). Her team identified epigenetic gene silencing in CVID-affected horses and pioneered regenerative therapies using hematopoietic stem cell modification.
Publications & Impact: With over 200 peer-reviewed articles and a seminal textbook (Equine Clinical Immunology, Wiley-Blackwell, 2016), her work intersects veterinary medicine, epigenetics, and conservation biology. Recent studies explore vaccine response optimization, R. equi pathogenesis, and cross-species applications in rhino/elephant conservation.
Awards & Leadership: Recognized by the NIH New Innovator Award (2010) and the Zweig Chair (2005-2008), she directs the Cornell Veterinary Educators Academy and mentors global researchers. Her lab’s collaborations span institutions like Texas A&M, Mount Sinai, and the Javan Rhino Conservation Program.
