Dr. Julia Chapman is a Lecturer in the Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and serves as Program Director for the M.S. Sustainable Management and M.S. Healthcare Administration programs. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Biology from the University of Dayton and a B.S. in Plant Biology from Ohio University.
Her expertise spans forest ecology, geographic information systems (GIS), invasive species management, and plant community ecology. She has contributed to restoration projects with local organizations like The Prairie Enthusiasts and the Lower Chippewa Invasives Partnership. Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Introductory GIS, Wetland Ecology & Delineation, and Conservation Biology.
Her research focuses on old-growth forest dynamics, topographic influences on plant communities, and invasive species impacts. She has published extensively on topics like riparian invasions, coarse woody debris dynamics, and mine site restoration.
Dr. Chapman actively supports student development through the UW-Stout Greenhouse and advises the Natural Areas Club. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges ecological research with applied conservation strategies.
