Julia Callaway

Julia Callaway is an Assistant Professor and CPop Postdoc at the Centre for Global Health, University of Southern Denmark. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Maryland, an MPH in Biostatistics from Brown University, and a BA in International Studies from the University of Chicago. Her research is centered on demographic and public health issues, particularly socioeconomic and migrant-based inequalities in survival and life expectancy in Denmark and Sweden.

Her research interests include epidemiology, biostatistics, aging populations, health disparities, and demographic modeling. She employs register-based data and advanced statistical methods to study survival to retirement age, life expectancy, and the social determinants of health. Her work often compares Denmark and Sweden, focusing on socioeconomic and migrant status as key variables.

The recent articles show a consistent trend in analyzing inequalities in survival, life expectancy, and mortality using large-scale register data from Nordic countries. Topics include the impact of socioeconomic status, migration background, and the COVID-19 pandemic on demographic outcomes. Her methodological approaches involve life tables, forecasting models, and cross-sectional analyses.
