Dr. Jule Hildmann is a Senior Research Fellow (Outdoor Learning) at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the IETL Centre for Experiential Learning, Centrum für Erlebnispädagogik (Germany), and the Centre for Innovative Education (Poland/EU). She holds a PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her work focuses on fostering personal and social growth through outdoor and experiential education, leadership development, and ethical educational practices.
Qualifications include MSc-equivalent in Special Education from Pädagogische Hochschule Heidelberg and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from the University of Edinburgh. She leads international initiatives like the Centre for Innovative Education, advocating for educational reform across Europe, and co-founded the Centrum für Erlebnispädagogik in Germany.
Her research explores how outdoor environments and experiential methods enhance learning, with a focus on transformative education, leadership, and community engagement. Notable themes in her publications include outdoor learning in vocational contexts, game-based pedagogy, and the transfer of social skills through experiential activities. Recent work emphasizes climate action through arts interventions and place-based education.
