Jukka Viheriälä is a Senior Scientist at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, specializing in optoelectronic components and photonics. He held a docentship in Manufacturing of Optoelectronic Components from 2017 to 2021. His research focuses on high-power lasers, semiconductor materials, and hybrid integration technologies. Viheriälä has authored over 175 publications, with recent work emphasizing silicon photonics, cryogenic semiconductor performance, and tunable laser systems. He received the Best Paper Award in 2013 for his contributions to distributed-feedback laser technology.
