Jukka Seppälä is a Professor at Aalto University's School of Chemical Engineering and currently serves as Vice Dean for Research. He has been part of Aalto's faculty since 1986 and holds the position of Head of the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering. His academic focus lies in Polymer Technology, with significant contributions to bioeconomy and circular economy research.
As Director and Principal Investigator of the National BIOECONOMY Research Infrastructure, Seppälä emphasizes advancing high-quality research through global collaborations and robust infrastructure. His leadership experience spans multiple roles, including former Head of a Center of Excellence funded by the Academy of Finland (2001–2007) and Academy Professor (2011–2015). Prior to his academic career, he gained industry expertise in the chemical sector.
