Juhn Ahn is Associate Professor of Buddhist and Korean Studies at the University of Michigan, with joint appointments in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, Center for Japanese Studies, and Nam Center for Korean Studies. His research investigates medieval Korean Buddhism's relationship with elite identity formation during the Koryo dynasty.
Publications examine Buddhist economic practices during fiscal crises (2010), Chan textual transmission in Song China (2009), memorial temple culture in Koryo Korea (2009), and health implications of Zen meditation (2008). Ahn teaches courses on Buddhism, premodern Korean civilization, Korean religions, and East Asian disaster history.
