Juhan Sonin

Juhan Sonin serves as a Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Mechanical Engineering, where he instructs and mentors students in the Engineering Process and Design course (2.009). He specializes in rapid prototyping, sketch modeling, and product-to-market analysis.

Professional Experience

With a diverse career spanning academia and industry, Sonin has held positions at Apple Computer, National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), MIT, MITRE, and various startups. He currently serves as Design Group Leader at MITRE and Creative Director at Involution Studios while maintaining his academic role at MIT. His work on The Ring Disc, an interactive guide to Wagner's Ring Cycle, received international acclaim including coverage in The New York Times, Newsweek, and The Chicago Tribune.

Additional Activities

Beyond his academic and professional work, Sonin is an accomplished violinist with the Lexington Symphony and an experienced filmmaker with fifteen years of experience as producer, editor, and cinematographer.
