Juha Silvanto

Juha Silvanto is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Surrey's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He directs research on visual cognition using brain stimulation (TMS, tDCS) and neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG), with particular focus on state-dependent neural effects. He holds a Ph.D. from University College London and completed postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical School.

Research Focus: Investigates neural mechanisms of visual working memory, mental imagery, and consciousness. Pioneers methodological advances in transcranial magnetic stimulation to target functionally specific neural pathways.

Publication Trends: Recent work explores aphantasia mechanisms, interoception-imagery relationships, and neuromodulation of perceptual decision-making. Articles demonstrate consistent innovation in brain stimulation paradigms.
