Judy Bourke

Judy Bourke is a Lecturer and Legal Writing Advisor at the Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne. She holds dual expertise in veterinary medicine and law, having qualified as a veterinary surgeon before graduating with Honours in Law from the University of Melbourne. Her roles include teaching the MLM subject 'Fundamentals of the Common Law', serving as a Legal Writing Advisor in the Ian Malkin Centre, and contributing to the Victorian Racing Tribunal and AFL Central Victoria Commission.

Her research interests span disability law, animal welfare law, sports regulation, and administrative law advocacy. Notable professional contributions include editing Bourke’s Liquor Laws Victoria for two decades and authoring the Liquor Chapter of Halsbury’s Laws of Australia. She also engages in systemic advocacy within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), addressing administrative law challenges through litigation support and policy submissions.
