Judith Butler

Judith Butler is the Maxine Elliot Professor of Rhetoric and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley, and a visiting Fellow in the Department of Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck, University of London since 2009. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Philosophy from Yale University (1984), exploring Hegelian perspectives on desire. She is renowned globally for pioneering feminist and queer theory, challenging gender essentialism through concepts like performativity.
