Judith Ann Ferry, MD, is the Director of Hematopathology and a Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. She works at Massachusetts General Hospital, where her research focuses on lymphoma diagnosis, subclassification of lymphomas, and the correlation of lymphoma behavior with pathologic features. Dr. Ferry has a special interest in extranodal lymphomas, including differences in lymphoma types across extranodal sites versus lymph nodes, and risk factors contributing to lymphoma development.
Her work includes publications such as the textbook Extranodal Lymphomas and peer-reviewed articles on ocular adnexa lymphomas, gastrointestinal follicular lymphomas, and CD20+ T-cell lymphomas. Dr. Ferry actively participates in multidisciplinary conferences, including Lymphoma and Leukemia Conferences, and contributes to resident and fellow education through didactic lectures and case reviews. She also collaborates with hematologists and oncologists to improve patient care and trains future leaders in hematopathology.
The Hematopathology group at MGH, under Dr. Ferry's leadership since 2010, reviews approximately 8,900 specimens annually, including bone marrow, lymph node, and extranodal biopsies, alongside flow cytometry and clinical pathology specimens. The group integrates morphology, immunophenotype, and genetic analysis for lymphoid and myeloid neoplasm characterization.
