Juan Yang

Dr. Juan Yang serves as the administrative officer for the Chinese Legal Culture Department at the University of Cologne’s Faculty of Philosophy. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Göttingen (2015) and dual LL.M. degrees from Nanjing University (2008) and the University of Göttingen (2008). Her research focuses on civil/commercial law, company law, and capital markets law with an emphasis on comparative legal frameworks between China and Germany. She manages departmental operations and advises on legal academic matters.

Research Interests: Her work explores legislative interventions in corporate governance (e.g., gender equality mandates), legal reforms in Chinese corporate capital structures, and cross-jurisdictional analyses of regulatory frameworks. She examines how national security checks in China impact foreign investments and evaluates sustainability certification mechanisms in global business contexts.

Professional Background: Prior to her current role, Dr. Yang passed China’s national judicial exam (2004) and conducted comparative studies on hostile takeover defenses in German and Chinese corporate law.
