Juan Molina Martín

Juan Molina Martín is a Doctor in Medicine and Specialist in Psychiatry, currently serving as Adjunct Professor at Universidad Camilo José Cela (UCJC) in the Department of Psychology. He holds a leadership role as Head of the Villaverde Mental Health Center at Dr. R. Lafora Hospital and is a researcher at the i+12 Institute of the 12 de Octubre Hospital, focusing on Neurocognition and Psychosis within Neuroscience and Mental Health research. His career spans academic teaching, clinical practice, and extensive research in Psychiatry, Psychopharmacology, and Forensic Psychiatry.

Academically, he earned his MD from the Autonomous University of Madrid (1991) and a PhD in Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (1997, cum laude). He completed specialized training in Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Clinical Management. His teaching roles include UCJC’s Psychology and Criminology programs, as well as a Collaborating Professorship in Toxicology and Health Legislation at Complutense University since 2011.

His research focuses on neurobiological mechanisms of addiction, drug interactions in psychopharmacology, aggression neurobiology, and combination treatments for psychiatric disorders. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles, 22 books, and 90 book chapters. His work during the pandemic explored mental health impacts on healthcare workers, yielding significant insights into suicidal ideation and resilience strategies.

Molina has contributed to six FIS/ISClll-funded research projects and nine international antipsychotic trials. He is a reviewer for three indexed journals and developed two smartphone applications for clinical use. His awards include a six-year research grant (2015) from the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI).

Professionally, he has held leadership roles in psychiatric departments across Spain, including coordinating short-term hospitalization units. His teaching emphasizes clinical practice integration, with a focus on communication skills and evidence-based treatments.
