Juan Manuel Durán

Juan Manuel Durán is an Assistant Professor in the Ethics/Philosophy of Technology section at Delft University of Technology's Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. He holds a PhD from the University of Stuttgart's Cluster of Excellence SimTech and previously studied computer science and philosophy at Argentina's National University of Córdoba.

His research spans:

• Philosophy of science and technology focusing on computer simulations
• Big Data epistemology and scientific modeling
• Ethical dimensions of computational methods
• Visualization techniques for simulation data
• Philosophical aspects of data-intensive research and laboratory practices

Specific interests include dark data management, specifications of computational models, ethics of simulation technologies, and infectious disease modeling.

Before joining TU Delft, Durán worked at the High Performance Computing Centre Stuttgart and contributed to software engineering and neural network projects at Argentina's National Space Activities Commission involving parallel processing and remote sensing applications.
