Juan Leon is an Associate Professor at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, holding appointments in the Hubert Department of Global Health, Department of Epidemiology, and Executive MPH Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health. A Peruvian native raised across Latin America, he earned his BA in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology from Dartmouth College and dual PhD in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis and MPH in Epidemiology from Northwestern University. His work spans parasitic/enteric diseases, vaccines, and environmental health.

Dr. Leon's research focuses on applied immunology and epidemiology to develop interventions for norovirus, rotavirus, and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in vulnerable populations. His lab addresses:

- Waterborne disease prevention
- Vaccine efficacy in low-income countries
- Food safety along the US-Mexico border
- Health equity for Latin American immigrants
- Disease ecology in agro-environments
Publications highlight his team's work on pathogen detection, vaccine policy, and occupational safety, funded by NIH and USDA. Awards recognize his teaching excellence and mentoring.
