Juan Jose Rodriguez Diez

Juan Jose Rodriguez Diez is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Burgos, Spain. He has served at the university since October 2000, achieving Full Professor status in June 2008, and currently coordinates the Consolidated Research Unit UIC 170 of Castilla y León's Regional Government since 2018.

His academic credentials include a Degree in Computer Science and a PhD from the University of Valladolid (2004), where his thesis "Machine learning techniques for series classification" was supervised by Dr. Carlos Javier Alonso González.

His research centers on Machine Learning and Data Mining with specialized applications in Bioinformatics, Big Data, and Business Intelligence. As leader of the ADMIRABLE research group, he develops ensemble methods and semi-supervised learning techniques for classification problems, extending into health sciences through projects like Campycardio which investigates pathogenicity mechanisms of Campylobacter jejuni using natural antimicrobial solutions.

He has co-supervised five theses and participated in nine doctoral committees. Major funding includes a Ministry of Economy project on ensemble algorithms (€65,703, 2016-2019) and a regional semi-supervised learning initiative (€172,000, 2020-2023), alongside six research contracts totaling over €260,000.

He directs the ADMIRABLE research group (Advanced Data Mining Research And Business Intelligence | Bioinformatics | Big Data LEarning) and UIC 170, driving interdisciplinary collaborations in industrial, civil engineering, and health science applications through Burgos University's PhD programs.
