Juan Fernandez

Dr. Juan Fernandez is an Associate Professor in the Comparative Sociology Group at the University Carlos III of Madrid. His research focuses on public attitudes, globalization, and political morality, with a particular emphasis on gender representation, welfare policy, and social inequality. He has held visiting positions, including at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center (2012).

His work explores topics such as gender quotas, societal religiosity's impact on political engagement, and the role of civil rights in abortion liberalization. Key publications include analyses of cross-national differences in European identity, redistributive attitudes, and Latina immigrant fertility trends in the U.S. and Spain.

Dr. Fernandez’s research spans sociology, political science, and demography, with a focus on policy feedback mechanisms, comparative welfare systems, and historical studies of social stratification. He currently teaches in the Social Sciences faculty and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on global policy diffusion and social integration.
